NAVE CENTER
THE RESIDENCE OF DANCE

Located in the Yungay neighborhood, NAVE is a center for creation and artistic residency dedicated to the performing arts. It occupies a heritage house built in 1907, restored and rehabilitated by renowned Chilean architect Smiljan Radic. Radic’s intervention, completed in 2015, preserved the existing façade—partially left standing after fires and the 2010 earthquake—while opening the interior to create a flexible, contemporary space.

The interior architecture is defined by its spaciousness and adaptability, with the highlight being the “Black Room,” a 750 m² main hall with retractable seating. The building also includes rehearsal studios, an artists’ residence, and a rooftop with a circus tent, offering diverse possibilities for experimentation and performance. The design embraces austerity and functionality, keeping the artistic work at the forefront.

NAVE defines itself as a space for experimentation that fosters research and creation around movement and the body. Its mission is to provide a platform for the professional
