LARRAÍN PALACE
“THE TITANIC”
Designed by architect Gustavo Mönckeberg in Neo-Rococo style with Art Nouveau elements, this imposing three-story building with a mansard roof and dome originally housed 88 rooms when it was built in 1913.
Popularly known as “The Titanic” due to its size, the palace was home to the Larraín family until 1972. Its architecture stands out for its Art Nouveau windows and moldings, as well as its spacious halls decorated with period furniture.
Today, the palace belongs to the Larraín Mancheño Foundation and has served various purposes, including room rentals and guided tours. In September 2024, the “Emporio Moneda” was inaugurated inside the palace— a store recreating the atmosphere of the early 20th century.
