METROPOLITAN PARK
A VERSATILE GREEN LUNG

The Metropolitan Park of Santiago (Parquemet) covers approximately 737 hectares, spanning the communes of Huechuraba, Providencia, Recoleta, and Vitacura. It is the largest urban park in South America and the fifth largest worldwide, encompassing the hills of San Cristóbal, Chacarillas, Los Gemelos, La Pirámide, Polanco, and El Carbón, as well as the areas of Tupahue, Lo Saldés, Pirámide, and Bosque Santiago.

At the summit of Cerro San Cristóbal, at an altitude of 863 meters, stands the imposing statue of the Immaculate Conception. This cast-iron statue, created by the Parisian foundry Val D’Osne, reaches 14 meters in height and rests on an 8.30-meter pedestal that houses a chapel.

To explore its various corners, the park offers a modern cable car and a nostalgic funicular dating back to 1925. These attractions, together with the zoo, sports facilities, and picnic areas, make Metropolitan Park one of the most visited and beloved green spaces in Santiago.
